If the CRA audits your tax return, Audit Defence connects you with an experienced tax professional who will deal directly with the CRA on your behalf and minimize the financial impact of an audit.
Unfortunately, Audit Defence is not available to Québec residents.
When you purchase Audit Defence, you'll receive two emails: one from Intuit confirming your purchase, and another from Canada TaxResources, our Audit Defence partner, which will contain a welcome package. This package will include instructions on how to view and print your membership certificate and agreement as well as instructions on contacting Canada TaxResources if you're audited. If you don't receive any emails, contact the TurboTax Support team.
No. Audit Defence needs to be activated once you receive a notice of review or audit notice from the CRA. The welcome package from Canada TaxResources will provide you with instructions on activating your membership. See the "Responsibilities" section of the Audit Defence Membership Agreement for more details.
If you received an email confirming your purchase of Audit Defence, you've successfully purchased it. However, Pro Review are services that are automatically activated upon purchase, whereas Audit Defence is activated upon notice of an audit, so there is no orange check mark in the Support screen. See questions 3 and 4 above for more information.
Yes. You can purchase individual Audit Defence memberships for tax years back to 2008.
Audit Defence defends the tax return you bought the membership for as long as that return can be audited.
If the tax return being audited is already protected under an Audit Defence membership, that tax return will be defended at no additional cost.
