Entering more than 2 bond transactions

You may want to create a spreadsheet using the same columns as section 5 of Schedule 3. Then enter the values for each transaction and total the columns.

You must switch to forms view to do this.

  1. Open Schedule 3. To find this form, use Form Lookup and enter the keyword S3.
  2. In Section 5 of Schedule 3, make a summary entry for all your bond transactions.
    1. Enter the totals in the columns with number amounts. For example, enter the total face value of all the bonds in Face value.
    2. In the Name of issuer column, enter See attached schedule.
  3. Open a custom worksheet and enter the details of the transactions. To find this form, use Form Lookup and enter the keyword CUST. Choose Custom Worksheet - Column #1 and click OK.
    1. In the Re: field, enter Additional Bond information - Schedule 3.
    2. In the body of the form, list your bonds separately. Include their face value, issuer name, year, proceeds, cost base, and outlays. In the second column, enter the gain for each bond.
The custom worksheet will print with your return, but the information does not transfer to your return. That's why you enter the summary amounts on Schedule 3.
When you file your tax return, attach the supporting schedule of all your bonds. If you use NETFILE, keep this information for your records.
