Business interview - reviewing and editing information

Due to the large amount of information that can be entered on the self-employed business forms, there are many steps in the business section of the interview.

Some people prefer to:
  • enter business information in two or more stages.
  • return later to a specific section to review, edit, or add more information.

You can move through the enhanced business interview quickly by skipping the sections that you prefer to complete later. Then the navigation screen allows you to go directly to the area you want, rather than having to go through all the business screens again. This screen becomes available after you've gone through the business interview once and reached the business summary.

  1. To activate the business interview navigation screen:
    1. Enter your business identification information.

      We recommend that you complete this section the first time through the interview.

    2. On the first screen of each section of the business interview, click the Skip [...] button to move to the next section. On screens that have Yes and No buttons, click No.

      For example, on the "Other Information About Your Business" screen, click Skip Other Information. You move immediately to the "Income" section.

      You can return to these screens later to enter information, or to review, edit, or add more information.

    3. On the detailed Business Summary (Business Statement) screen, click Continue to move to the Business Summary screen. From this screen, you can access the business interview navigation screen.
  2. To access the business interview navigation screen from the Business Summary screen:
    1. Click Edit.
    2. In the list of interview sections, click the section you want to go to.
