Use Automated Tax Return (ATR) to import slips

To use ATR, you must:
  • have an internet connection; and
  • register with a participating partner (e.g. financial institution or charitable organization) and set up a username and password with them;
Tip: If you receive your pay stub electronically, you are already registered.

This feature is not available in TurboTax Online Free. To add this feature, upgrade TurboTax.

This feature is not available in TurboTax Basic. To add this feature, upgrade TurboTax.

Note: If you are creating a coupled return, you must do the following steps for each spouse's return.
  1. On the Import Data into TurboTax screen, select ATR Partners then click Continue.
  2. On the Entering Your Federal Tax Slips screen, click Enter T-Slips.
  3. On the T-Slip Entry Window Demonstration screen, click Enter T-Slips Now.
  4. From the File menu, click ATR Import.
  5. On the Update Slip Providers screen, click Continue.

    An an up-to-date list of ATR partners appears.

  6. Select the providers with whom you have information slips, then click Continue. For example, if you have a T-4 slip with ABC Financial and an RRSP receipt with XYZ Funds, select both institutions.
  7. Enter your user ID and Password or PIN for each institution and click Continue.

    A table is displayed outlining the slips that have been downloaded.

  8. To review the slips, click Continue.

    If you click Skip Import, none of this information will be kept.

  9. Check for duplicates. To discard a duplicate slip, clear the checkmark in the "Keep" column.
  10. To accept the selected slips, click Continue.

    The T-slip entry screen appears. If you need to adjust any of the imported information, do so now.

To view or edit the imported slips, open them in the T-slips and receipts entry screen.
