Dependant Worksheet

To claim dependant credit amounts, first enter the person as a dependant in the Dependant Information window.

To claim dependant credits, you must first enter the person as a dependant in the Introduction section of the interview. Then claim the dependant credits in the Deductions section of the interview.

Also enter the total of the expenses in the Dependant Information window.

This worksheet is for calculation purposes only. Do not file it with your tax return.

Use this worksheet to split certain dependant credits with another parent.

If your province offers a similar provincial credit and allows you to divide the claim, you can split the federal amount, the provincial amount, or both.

  1. Open the Dependant Credits worksheet. To find this form, use Form Lookup and enter the keyword DEPWS.
  2. If you are not preparing a coupled return, enter the amount that the other person is claiming at Less: Amount claimed by spouse or common-law partner.
    Note: If you are preparing a coupled return, you need to override the amount that's showing in order to do so.
